Geoff, one of our great volunteers at SAFE, is also a volunteer for the NSW Rural Fire Service with Davidson Brigade. Earlier this year he was taking part in a hazard reduction burn in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park when he came across a poor cat whose back legs were completely paralysed from a paralysis tick. The cat was rescued and made safe in the Davidson Firetruck and it was quickly arranged for him (now named Davo) to be picked up by National Parks personnel and transported to the nearby Terry Hills Animal Hospital. There the team worked around the clock to nurse Davo back to health and when he was well enough he came to SAFE to be adopted.

It wasn’t long before Tara, another SAFE volunteer, adopted him and he has settled in really well with her five other cats. Tara says “He plays all the time with Keith the 1 year old that we also adopted from SAFE, follows me around the house and sits in his basket next to my desk while I’m working. He is such a friendly, loving boy.”
