Prue (now Misha) and Trude (now Kiki) were adopted together in November 2025 after spending 801 days in our care.
Their adopter, Karen, recently told us: “Misha lets me scratch her briefly behind the ear when I feed her, but Kiki won’t let me pat her at all.” She adds, “Sadly, they will never be lap cats, but that’s OK.”
Karen, understood that bringing home two shy cats would require patience, understanding and realistic expectations and that attitude is exactly why these girls are so lucky to have found her.
Some cats take a year or more to feel truly safe, and there’s no set timeline, but these two are definitely showing signs of progress – they are out in the open grooming each other—something cats only do when they feel reasonably safe and comfortable.
Trust doesn’t always look like cuddles 
. Sometimes it looks like two cats quietly relaxing in a home where they’re accepted exactly as they are. And if Karen continues to provide consistency, respects their body language, provides opportunities for enrichment and play and gives tasty treats as positive reinforcement, these girls might still surprise her down the track … or not…and that’s OK…
