We want the best for Stella, we want her to live her best life. It happens sometimes that unfortunately no matter how hard we try, the environment at SAFE Haven is not bringing out the best in her. It is often the case that cats like Stella hide their true personalities when they are overwhelmed and we hope that if she can go to a quiet, loving home she will show us who she really is.
Stella has been with us for a while and now she is comfortable with Tim she has shown signs that she really wants to be brave by rolling over & inviting pats when it’s very quiet. However it’s taken a long time to get to this point and progress has been very slow. When anyone else approaches Stella still hides and so she is often overlooked by potential adopters.
Stella may always be a shy cat but we’re confident that a change of environment, some dedicated attention, routines and consistency will encourage her to relax. If you can give Stella a foster home right now with a view to adopt her down the track we think it’s worth a try. You will need to commit to having her with you for at least 6 months and we will provide help and guidance along the way.
Taking a shy cat home is like embarking on a journey. You know that it will provide challenges along the way but also that it has the potential to be very rewarding, and you need to be happy to take everything as it comes and deal with it step by step. Yes, it will be a journey with Stella but if you let it happen at her pace you will be rewarded in many ways.
