Oreo is a handsome, playful boy who enjoys being around people. Life in the shelter is inevitably confined, with pressure on cats to respond favourably to unfamiliar people, and Oreo sometimes communicates his discomfort with a hiss, a growl or occasionally, a swipe. Weโve seen this kind of behaviour in cats that are frustrated many times before, and we know from experience how much the right home can change things. In fact when we give Oreo more space and freedom at SAFE, he loves behaves just like a little dog – he’s happy amusing himself,ย chasing balls around and then stretching out and relaxing with us in reception.![]()
The best happy ending for Oreo would be to share a home with adults and maybe a teenager or two. Heโs not currently a lap cat or one for cuddles, (but you never knowโฆ). However he will enjoy lying beside you,ย ย entertain himself or snooze when youโre out.
If your cat experience means you understand his body messages and signals, if you give him space when he asks for it and let things develop gradually, youโll get on with Oreo fabulously! Of course there are no guarantees, just really positive indicators that, that if given a chance and things align in his permanent home, he will prove to be a loyal, affectionate companion.
Our Rehoming Centre is in Mona Vale and you are welcome to visit any day between 10 am & 4pm.
